We are pleased to announce that on Saturday 28th November we held our annual Christmas Craft & Gift Fair at the Carterton Community Centre, Marigold Square, Shilton Park, Carterton OX18 1AX from 10am – 4pm. There were over 30 fantastic stalls selling beautiful and unique handcrafted items & other great Christmas gift ideas. Admission was free & the Café was open. Proved the perfect opportunity to pick up some great presents in time for Christmas then relax in our friendly Café with a hot drink & something to eat.

Carterton Lions Fourth Open Art Exhibition
Proved to be yet another successful exhibition with lots of visitors between Thursday 31st October & Sunday 3rd November. The artwork on show this year was of such a high standard yet again!

CARTERTON WINTER LIGHTS PROCESSION

Everyone who came along to the Winter Lights Procession enjoyed a magical stroll with sparkling lanterns on Friday 9th December.

The walk  began at St John the Evangelist Church and finished at the Carterton Community Centre where everyone enjoyed carols sung by children from Gateway school. Free refreshments were provided which were very kindly donated by the Co-operative Store, Marigold Square, Shilton Park.  Carterton Lions provided a beautiful grotto for Father Christmas to visit us.  All the children loved seeing him & giving their present requests. This proved to be a hugely successful and popular evening attended by approximatley 250 people.

Thank you to the organisers – WODC, Carterton Lions & Carterton Community Centre but also a huge thank you to all the volunteers from other groups such as Carterton U3A & Cottsway Housing who helped out on the evening.

The Barn Dance with Hot Supper at the Community Centre on Saturday 22nd October  in aid of the charity Help for Heroes went very well & everyone attending had an enjoyable evening. There was lots of dancing to Grandma’s YoYo Barn Dance Band. The Caller was Don Rouse & he had everyone up on the dance floor having a great time.

We are extremely pleased to report that we donated £1368.11 to the Help for Heroes charity from money raised by the barn dance evening & raffle ticket sales. The amount sent also included donations from Carterton Lions & Carterton U3A.

We have since received a thank you letter from Help for Heroes who were very appreciative of the donation. The money will go towards their next project which is to deliver the Defence Recovery Capability (DRC) . This will be a comprehensive pathway to help the wounded back into the next phase of their lives. H4H are working in partnership with the MOD & RBL on this new project.

We held our annual Christmas Craft & Gift Fayre this year on Saturday 26th November from 10am – 4pm. There was a fantastic variety of stalls with handcrafted gifts for Christmas. It was very successful & well attended. Our Cafe was open which gave people the opportunity to buy some great presents then relax in the friendly & welcoming atmosphere of the 4C’s Cafe.

The Free £25.00 Prize Draw took place at 3.45pm on the day & the winner was Rachel Green.
