Management Committee

A Management Committee has already been established and meets on the first Wednesday of the month. It is working on a range of legal, administrative and practical issues associated with commissioning the new centre.

Once the Centre is complete, the Town Council will lease the building to a Management Company for 25 years from the autumn of 2008. The Management Company will be a company limited by guarantee and also a registered charity. It will be run by a committee of 13 Directors representing Town Councillors, groups using the centre and independent members of the community. The activities of the Company will be governed by rules set out in the Memorandum and Articles. Its objects are:

• To advance the development of Carterton and its neighbourhood as a community, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents
• To further the above objective by running a community centre for the provision of services to the residents of Carterton and its neighbourhood.
